Our Trip - Day 5

UGLY LURE DAY!!!

Today was ugly lure day. Boy, the lures were ugly!!!

We set out Early, and went to the cove behind Garbage Island, with the fisherman trying their luck using the god-awful contraptions! To the surprise of everyone …. A fish was caught on an ugly lure! And what a fish! Vern, using Rich’s lure, caught a whopper … 34 inch pike (the biggest fish actually landed on the trip).

With the contest behind them, the fishermen set out to explore Lake Rheaume. Troy, Uncle Raym and Bob took the portage trail to Disbrowe Lake. Along the trail to Disbrowe Lake was filled with Moose Tracks and Wolf crap. Dad was an expert in identifying the wolf bait.

Disbrowe Lake was a beautiful lake. It was huge. Troy caught the first pike on this lake. Though the pike was small in size (approximately 22”), the fisherman were surprised to see gashes on the body of the fish where a larger pike attempted to eat the smaller pike.

On the fourth day of fishing, the following fish were caught:

  • Bob - 5 pike, 3 walleye
  • Uncle Raym – 1 pike, 1 walleye
  • Troy - 6 pike, 3 walleye
  • Rich – 1 walleye
  • Vern -1 pike (34”, the largest of the trip)

For breakfast, the anglers had eggs, bacon and potatoes. For lunch, the anglers had ham sandwiches and cheese/crackers, and for dinner, the anglers had t-bone steaks, baked potatoes, corn and salad.
