2008 Trip - Monday
The fishermen traveled to East Rheaume for some walleye fishing. The fishing was fantastic, but the story of the day was the boat problems because of Ethanol issues with the gas. Ray & Gary’s outboard motor failed at the entrance to the rapids of East Rheaume, and Troy and John needed to tow the boat back to the cabin to switch motors. Once the motor was switched, the fisherman traveled over to East Rheaume and the outboard motor failed on the replacement boat!
However, the fishing was absolutely fantastic on East Rheaume. The fishermen went back to the “honey hole” and landed at least seventy to eighty walleye, with the majority of fish over 18” and at least 30 over 21”. Troy and Ray each caught 22” walleye, and John caught the largest of the trip, a 23” monster.
Because of boat problems, we at lunch and fished from land on East Rheaume, which was a blast. We caught many large fish from land, and we picked some blueberries too. At the end of the day, Ray and Gary towed John and Troy back to East Rheaume, which was relaxing (drinking Labatts and smoking stogies along the way).
At dinner, the fishermen had baked and breaded walleye, John’s Lentils, salad and some of Aunt Mary’s Pickled Beets (yummy). After dinner, Troy and John made a quick trip to Disbrowe Lake to check out the trail and the outboard motor. When we got back to the cabin, the fishermen settled in for a night of poker playing.
